York is a cozy country town north of London. Think cozy tea houses, quaint cafes serving delicious winter warmers, cobblestone paved alleyways lined with stores selling all sorts of knick knacks and medieval stone walls encasing the whole town. We caught a 1.5 hour train from Kings Cross Station and arrived early in the morning. Again, we went with AirBnb and stayed in a cozy and eccentrically decorated home within walking distance from town. Our walking shoes were well and truly on as we walked the old medieval walls surrounding the town enjoying the views on the way. We took our time browsing the stalls within the Shambles and Fossgate road.

The magnificent York Minster was an amazing display of gothic medieval architecture. Although we didn't pay the price to go fully into the church, we were content to just take a million photos of the exterior! We also stumbled upon York museum which had a fully edible garden outside. As for food, we certainly feasted on pies and pastries, thick soups with crusty bread and the classic English breakfast. Staying for just 1 night and 2 days, we felt that this was the perfect amount of time to enjoy this town before heading onwards to Edinburgh.
