As hard as it is to pick a favourite from our amazing trip, it is difficult to go past Glencoe. It's no wonder Bond's film Skyfall was filmed here as it was the perfect backdrop for a road trip. The ominous clouds hanging over us made for even more dramatic photos with the sun peeking out through the dark sky. I'm sure I annoyed Joe to death by making him pull the car over every few metres to take another snap on my camera, but I just couldn't help it! Our Air Bnb was nestled in the woods and the production crew from Harry Potter stayed here as scenes from Hagrid's Hut were filmed on their property. To add, the local pub down the road from our place was used in the film 'Made of Honour'. The rugged landscape and mountain terrain gives you a good appreciation of the tough and resilient highland character. We were pretty swept up in Scottish patriotism and watched Braveheart on our night here.
We only spent one night in Glencoe, then ventured onto the Isle of Skye. On the way, we drove past Eilean Donan Castle; a beautiful 13th century castle owned by the Macrae Clan. This castle is an iconic Scottish site and was a very popular pit stop.
