Joe and I went to a Kokedama Plant workshop one night and made two plants to take home. The workshop provided all the materials for making the plants.
Materials Needed:
Sphagnum Moss
Water
Twine String
Plant
Bowl
Scissors
Instructions:
1. Cut two pieces of string approx 50cm long and lay the two pieces in a diagonal 'X' shape in the bowl
2. Shape the moss into a nest, hollowing out slightly the moss in the middle
3. Loosen the dirt around the plant and place it in the middle of the hollowed out moss. Cover the plant by folding the moss over the plant.
4. Place the entire moss covered plant into the bowl with the 2 pieces of string. Tie the string together at opposite ends.
5. Take another long piece of twine (as long as you want) and secure the moss in place by repeatedly wrapping the twine over the moss until it starts to resemble a ball shape.
Maintenance:
Place the Kokedama plant in a bucket of water for around 10mins once a week. The ball will soak up as much water as it can hold. They can be hung or placed on a plant dish.
