Itinerary in Santorini - Our first stop in the Greek islands, we hired a quad bike and were off!
Fira town
We stayed here and loved walking through the small alleyways of Fira, looking at the beautiful shops and eating our weight's worth in gyros!
Oia Town
The amazing picturesque town on the Island's North. This was the place to watch the beautiful sunset and we found a secluded little alleyway and climbed on top a building to enjoy. There were endless white wash buildings, blue domes, hidden alleyways, pastel coloured doorways, brightly coloured bougainvillea and cactus pot plants lining this cliffside town.
Ancient Thira ruins
On the island's southeast side, this was an epic drive up to the top of the mountain. We then continued on foot further up and explored the ruins and enjoyed the amazing views of the island from the top.
Ammoudi Bay
In Oia, this seaside village was lined with amazing seafood restaurants overlooking the bay. If you continued further along the rocks, you could swim in crystal clear waters and cliff jump into the ocean. We also bought goggles and saw coral and schools of fish. We spent a whole day here alternating between swimming and relaxing on the rocks. This was our favourite place to swim.
Red Beach
Named for its red cliffs and sand, we loved taking a dip at this beach to cool off from the hot Greek weather. It sits in a bay so the waves were very mild.
Pyrgos Old Town
A traditional and quiet small town in the middle of the island. Lots of really cute handmade gift shops, old Greek-catholic churches and traditional cafes.
Greek cuisine is amazing! Fresh seafood, feta, iced coffee frappes, souvlakis, ouzo and of course gyros to name a few of our favourites. We dined on a mixture of street food, cafes and restaurants here.
The cutest small, white fluffy dog who loved a good scratch!
The journey to Athenos Port was a crazy one! The bus that takes you there has to travel down the steepest winding road that is only wide enough for one way traffic. This was a super slow process when there was heavy traffic both ways filled with buses taking people to and from the busy port. The port itself was pandemonium with no clear signage as to where to wait for your ferry however we got there in the end! Next stop - Paros!
