On first planning our motorhome trip through France, we came across something called France Passion on people's blogs. France passion is an amazing initiative in which motorhomes can stay at vineyards and farms in rural France for free. You pay 30 euros for the guide which has all the instructions and addresses of the various farms. The farms can offer a nice pitch for your camper, water, electricity, shade and most farmers also offer you a free tasting of their produce (usually wine or some form of Alcohol).
We could not believe how amazing our first France Passion was as we came up to our first ever chateau looking building. We parked under an apple tree and cows were grazing metres from us! We sat on our roof deck watching the first French sunrise together, enjoying a dinner of bread, cheeses, pate and meats.
Movie nights in the van! Watching The Life of Brian.
Bayeux and Normandy beaches
We visited the D-Day beaches of WWII including Omaha beach and Pointe du Huc.
Mont Saint Michel
Mont Saint Michel was an amazing medieval island which is reachable by foot during low tide, but totally cut off during high tide. At the centre of the island is the large cathedral and abbey. The windy roads on the island all circle up towards the central abbey and there are many shops and restaurants to visit. We visited during low tide and saw many tours walking around through the mud around the island. This place was so picturesque, it looked like something out of Disney and we couldn't resist taking a million shots in front of it!
