Our next stop on this whirlwind road trip of Spain was Valencia! We stayed right in old town and really enjoyed a night of local tapas and wine bar hopping. Granada was next and this place was incredible! Our airbnb had an amazing deck which afforded us stunning views of Alhambra palace and fort and the Siera Nevada mountains behind it. We were on that deck the entire night, enjoying drinks and listening to the local music waft up to us from below. Old town of Albaicin was beautiful as we wandered through its narrow lanes and small little stores.
Alhambra itself was an architectural masterpiece showcasing the best of its islamic heritage! Everything from the detailed tiled roofs inside to the exquisitely manicured gardens on the outside made our ticket into this place totally worth it.
We did not have as much time in Seville unfortunately, and only got a small taste of this city. Plaza de Espana was beautiful and we had the best local tapas in this quiet road on the outskirts of town near our airbnb.
Finally Madrid - we went on a free walking tour of old town and learnt a lot about the crazy history; including the fascist regime that only ended in the 1980's! We ate paella, drank at the local wine bars and fed our leftover pretzel to hungry pigeons. At night, we got treated to the most amazing Flamenco show of jarring music and passionate dancing.
