We stayed in a small town around 30mins out of Brasov called Zarnesti at a camping place 'Alpin Ranch'. Alpin Ranch was a really cute little camp site with a beautiful guesthouse attached to it. The owners are Otilia and her family, and her very friendly father (only spoke Italian) was at the camp everyday to restock the wood and check on the place. We caught the bus from Zarnesti into Brasov town. Brasov is one of the most famous Transylvanian towns and we spent a good couple of hours walking around the entire city. We enjoyed an iced coffee and hot chocolate in one of their picturesque and warm cafes with large glass windows for you to peer out into the streets. Christmas decorations were already all up and there were large christmas trees in the main town square. For lunch, we had some fresh chips and cheesy sauce - it was so delicious! Probably the most exciting thing about our stay here was on the second morning, we woke up to our first ever snow!!! The snowflakes were tiny and almost misted down as they fell. The van was covered in snow and the floor was no longer rocks and grass but a blanket of white snow!
Winter wonderland views from our window in the van!
They assembled multiple smaller trees to make it into one large Christmas tree dominating the main square.
The delicious and freshly made hot chips with cheesy sauce!
Main street of Zarnesti - a couple of minutes walk from our camp site.
Beautiful mountain scenery as the backdrop for Zarnesti.
