Rupea
We stumbled upon this town when driving from Sighisoara to Zarnesti. Joe spotted the large, imposing fortress castle during our drive and we decided to stop and check it out. It had convenient parking and tickets were very cheap to have a look inside.
Bran
This town is famous for being home to Castle Bran - aka Dracula's lair! We parked on a small dirt road near the castle and walked a short distance to the entrance. At the entrance was a lively market selling winter woolies and street food. Joe picked up some new wooly socks and gloves! There was only a small line to queue for tickets at the entrance to Castle Bran and we were soon walking into its surrounding grounds. The castle itself is a lot pokier than we thought from looking at its size from the outside. It use to house the royal family of Moldavia which is one of the old regions of Romania. It is also said that Bran Stoker used this castle as inspiration behind his novel Dracula which then got made into a movie.
