Germany - Skiing in Oberstdorf

We arrived in the ski town of Oberstdorf in the Bavaria region of Germany and it completely lived up to the 'winter wonderland' ski towns you imagine/see on tv! It was blanketed in white snow, there were wooden alpine snow chalets everywhere and the majestic mountains loomed in the background. We spent 3 days skiing and took a lesson on the first day which was very helpful On the final day, we were both so buggered and decided to have a break by walking around the ski town. The international ski jumping championships were to be held in Oberstdorf that weekend and we saw helicopters bombing the mountains to avoid avalanches in preparation. It snowed so much whilst we were there that the camp site maintenance man was kept busy shovelling snow all day.

Aerial view of Oberstdorf.

Cabin in the woods.

Beautiful walks around the ski town in the mountains.

The ski jumping arena.

Super excited skiing for the first time ever for both of us!

Never seen so many other campers about!

The campsite which kept getting covered in snow and the staff had to constantly plough the area.
