Near the border with Czech Republic and just next door to Bohemia Switzerland National Park, we visited the beautiful Bastei bridge. The Bastei is a rock formation and a bridge was built across it in 1824 to connect the several rocks to access the castle. The castle belonged to the Bohemians before bandits overtook it and it fell into disrepair. Now the bridge is made of sandstone and allows visitors and tourists to explore the rocks and castle ruins. Rock climbing is very popular in this region and we saw many climbers scaling the huge sandstone rock forms. We stayed at a beautiful free camp spot in a small rural village around 2km away and rode our bikes into the national park.
The great bikeways around this town.
From where the old castle use to sit.
Lots of rock climbers about scaling the massive sandstone structures (spot them in the orange).
Breakfast with great views over the rural countryside.
